That time of the semester...

Hey Everyone!

I am so so so sorry that I haven't been blogging as regularly.  Unfortunately, it's that time in the semester where students everywhere are cracking down catching up on reading, mulling over notes, and creating millions of flashcards.  Finals.  For this reason I am crawling into my little cave away from the world for a few weeks.  After finals are over, I will be back in full force!  Good luck to all of you diligent students out there!

Here are a few new videos to tide you over...
and get to know me just a little bit better!
Talk to you all soon!  :)

Pretty in Purple -Tutorial-

Hey Everyone!

So I just finished uploading this new makeup tutorial.  This look is all about having fun with bright colors.  Purple is my FAVORITE color so of course I had to use it :)  In the video I mention that the liners used are from Cargo's swimmable collection, only available in summer.  I am including swatches of each of the liners used so that you are able to match them to other brands.  My recommendation would be Make Up Forever liners.

I hope you like this tutorial and let me know what you think!

Until next time,

Get Inspired

Defining your own style is a constant process, not an end point.  Your life is constantly evolving and shaping who you are as a person.  Let that shine through!

Find pictures of family members, magazine cuttings, or use art and poetry for inspiration and make your own personal wall/ collage of style inspiration.  It's fun, crafty, and easy.

The photo above is my wall (door) of inspiration.  Every time I'm flipping through a magazine and am inspired by a fashion photograph I clip out the page and paste it to my door.  Later I'll come glance at the wall to help recreate an outfit or a makeup look.

Mission of the day:  Be inspired!

Walk the Liner - Best in liquid liner

It's no surprise that this season liquid liner is in.  The perfect cat eye can look perfectly sophisticated, polished, and seductive.  A few years back this was a staple product in my makeup collection, something that completed my look daily.  The black liner pen is still one of my favorite makeup items.  From experience, these particular brands will give you the cleanest line out there.

Stila - Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner ($20) remains my favorite liquid liner out there.  Yes, it is on the pricier side, but many times it can be found for cheaper within product bundles (sometimes found at Nordstrom Rack, Costco, and occasionally at Sephora and Ulta).  This product creates the smoothest, blackest line.  With the precise pen point you can go for a subtle line or darken it for a bolder more dramatic look.  This liner lasts all day and is slow to run out.

*drugstore find*  Palladio - Eye Inks Eyeliner ($5.99 at Ulta) is my drugstore alternative to the Stila liner.  It's small size makes it easy to hold and control along with other attributes of the Stila liner.

MAC - Blacktrack Fluidliner is the industry standard for all of you who prefer the gel liner.  Although I hear there are drugstore brands out there that will help you achieve the same look, I haven't tried most of them.  Have you tested another gel liner?  Let me know!

Urban Decay 24/7 Waterproof liquid eyeliner in Perversion - I usually prefer the use of a pen liner, but this brush come to the perfect point and is fine enough to execute the cat eye perfectly.  It is easy to control for a liner brush, and unlike most pens dries fast leaving little to no mess.

-New Tutorial- Bridal Makeup

Hey Everyone!

So I finally got around to filming another tutorial!  This one was particularly important for me to film, because it was my first video requested by one of my subscribers (super exciting!).  A big trend in bridal fashion right now is to skip the makeup artist and do it yourself.  Even Kate Middleton did her own makeup at the royal wedding.  Bridal makeup is so subjective that there is no right and wrong way to apply it.  My take on the look is a more natural glow-y version of yourself.

Here are some of my bridal makeup tips:
1.  Use a full coverage foundation for FLAWLESS wedding photographs
2.  Add just a dab of luminizer to your foundation to look perfectly glow-y
3.  ALWAYS use waterproof mascara for those emotional moments
4.  Minimize the gloss.  Better yet, go with a lip stain or lip pencil to ensure long lasting color.  Also I'm sure your husband will appreciate a goop free kiss ;)
5.  Invest in a great setting spray to make your makeup last all night long.  On such a busy day, you don't want to have to worry about reapplying.

Have a request?  Don't be shy!  My videos are for you, so don't hesitate to shoot me a request/comment. :)
