DIY Manicure - Ombre

Hey guys!

So this was my lazy sunday night.  I'm not going to lie, it did take awhile to complete, but I just had to try it and I'm pretty proud of the end result!  :)  Although these nails were pretty time consuming, they are still relatively easy to complete.  I'm no nail expert, but here's how I achieved this look:

1.  Start with 3-4 different shades in the same color ranging from light to dark and one triangular edged makeup sponge

2.  Coat your nails completely with the lightest color and wait for them to dry

3.  Apply a small amount of the second lightest color to the makeup sponge (It's better to start with a small amount and apply more).  Stipple the color over the nail leaving an exposed section near the cuticle, so the previous color will still shine through.

4.  Repeat with every other color.

5.  (Optional)  I then applied a sparkly clear coat of nail polish over the upper half

6.  Apply top coat for a smoother finish and longer lasting manicure!

The colors that I used were:
OPI - Breathe Life
OPI - Teal the Cows Come Home
OPI - Dating a Royal
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear - Blue It
Wet n' Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - 469
OPI - Top Coat

Hope this is helpful!

Until Next Time,

Curly Hair Care Routine/ Tutorial (Day 1)

Hey guys!

I thought that it would be fitting, since my name is evy"curlygirly" to film an every day curly hair tutorial on how i manage to keep my curls frizz-free and styled.  It has taken me a long time to perfect the styling of my hair, because there seems to be a limited number of internet info for us curly girls.  This video is hopefully my contribution to the curly cause!  :)  I hope that you find this helpful.  Days 2 and 3 coming soon!

Beauty Bibles -New Video-

Hey guys!

Beauty and fashion inspirations can come from anywhere, a quote, a person, a photograph, a song, but today I wanted to talk to you about beauty bibles.  By beauty bibles I mean fashion and beauty books and magazines that I refer to religiously for my style inspirations.  Here are just a few of my go-to beauty bibles.

Enjoy!

Date Night Makeup Look -New Video Tutorial-

Hey Everyone,

Sorry, about how looong it has taken me to finally get going with the videos again.  Going home for break sort of threw a wrench in the time I had to make them, but I swear I'm back!

This date night look has been requested by a couple of people, so I hope this what you were looking for!

These are swatches from the Nude 'Tude palette by theBalm that I used in this tutorial.  The colors from left to right are Snobby, Stubborn, Sultry, and Sleek.
The teal liner used is from the Cargo Swimmables Collection and the lipstick pictured above is from Makeup Forever's Rouge Artist Lip Colors in Mat3

X-Out Wash-in Treatment Review (Acne Product)

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to take this time to tell you about this new acne product developed by ProActiv.  First off, I feel like I should tell you that this product was graciously sent to me by the AMAZING Influenster.com, who allowed me to review their Holiday VoxBox (Register for free!).  Now, I have been living a constant acne battle since around the age of 12.  I have used just about EVERY non-prescription acne treatment out there, seen a dermatologist, and tried several different prescription products to no avail... until now.  Now, I'm not going to lie and tell you that this is a MIRACLE product that completely cured my acne, but it did significantly clear my skin after only a few uses.

This product comes in a pump container and can be used in three different ways: as a face wash, spot treatment, or face mask.  The active ingredient in this product is benzoyl peroxide, which I have tried several times, without achieving the same affect as with this product.  The first night of use, I used the product as a face wash and went to bed directly after use.  In the morning when I woke up, I noticed that my skin was not nearly as blotchy and that the size of many zits were reduced.  Now, it's hard to tell if it was this product that worked so incredibly fast or if it was just time for my skin to clear, but after a few more days of use (twice a day) it became clear that this product was a keeper.  I eventually added the Clean & Clear  Advantage Mark Treatment with salicylic medication in conjunction with the X-Out treatment, and my skin has continued to be much happier with me :)  This product is definitely worth a try.  I plan to repurchase this treatment in the future!  Let me know how this product worked for you.

Until Next Time!

imPress Press on Manicure Review

Hey Everyone!

So if you have watched my Influenster.com video, you know that I am a huge fan of Influenster.  In a nutshell, they are a company that selects members according to their participation to receive free boxes of a variety of products in exchange for feedback (Starting in 2012 you must be invited to become a member).

One of the products my "Holiday Voxbox" that I received was a package of fake nails from Broadway Nails that works a little bit differently.  They came in the cute packaging pictured above in a set of 24 differently sized nails.  The number they give you is really very helpful, as each one is a different size so you will be able to find a very close fit to your actual nails.  Also, you can use some of the leftover nails (although they might be the leftover sizes) to replace damaged nails later on.

The nails are very easy to apply.  All you need to do is swab your nails with the included alcohol pad to wipe away any oils.  Then it's as easy as choosing the correct nail sizes, peeling off the backing to expose the sticky section, and carefully pressing them over your nails.  I was impressed (No pun intended) by the overall look of these nails.  They have a very nice finish and the red color which I received was perfect for the holidays.  Another pro is that they are very customizable.  Not only because of the extensive sizes, but it's also easy to clip and file them to achieve the desired shape and length.

One thing that I think could be improved upon is this products lasting power.  On the second day my first nail began to detach and I then pulled it off the rest of the way, because I found it to be distracting and bothersome.  I tried to make my manicure last by replacing nails as they became loose with the alternate sizes, trying to make them work.  This bought me an extra day of these beautiful nails, but by the end of the third day they weren't looking their best so I removed them all.

The verdict:  This is not a bad product at all, in fact I would highly recommend them for special occasions.  They look beautiful and I'm sure that you could rely on them to get you through a single event.  This manicure costs around $7, much below the usual rate of a salon manicure.  They are also great for people like me who don't like to take the time to shape, trim, and buff their nails.  This product will give you the instant perfect manicure.  My one complaint would be the product lifespan.

I do want to say thank you to both Influenster and Broadway Nails for giving me the chance to review this product for all of you!

Until next time,
Evy <3
