Haul Video/ Summer Update

Hi Everyone!

So I finally uploaded a new video.  I'm so excited for you all to see my first haul video.  My sister's guest appearance makes this video extra special. :)

I've been keeping myself pretty busy this summer (Sorry for my lull in blog posts/ videos) so I figured it was time for an update!  I'm so excited for some major life changes.  My life has really started to go in a different direction from what I ever imagined it would, and I'm so excited to start exploring new paths.

Gym time. House sitting gigs. Alyssa's (Sister!) wedding. Catching up with friends. Moving (Twice!). New Job. Sun. Hikes. Family time...

I think that about wraps things up!  I tried to keep my update short and sweet.  :)  Loving and living life. I would love to hear what everyone else is up to!

Until next time,

Outfit of the Day - Girly Summer Style

All summer so far has been my bare face, flip flops, jean shorts, t-shirts, and bikini-ed up body.  Time for a change don't you think?  Today I thought I'd go a little bit fancier with this ADORABLE dress, hair down, red lips, guitar pick earring, and heels (From Famous Footwear a few years back).

I need to thank Sugar Lips Apparel for this dress that I am completely in love with.  This is my first piece of clothing ever sent to me by a company and I can't describe to you how long I jumped up and down when it arrived in the mail.  Hand picked by me, this "Tribeca Bridge Dress" did not disappoint.  My favorite details are the zipper waist band and the perfect triangle cut-out in the back.

I'll definitely be going back for more. :)  I'll let you know what I pick up.  Please check out http://sugarlipsapparel.com for more high quality picks.  In case you're interested in just this dress, here's the link: http://www.sugarlipsapparel.com/std8393.html

Anyone notice anything new about my hair?  Here's a hint:  That's not my natural color.  Let me know what you think!

Nails of the Day (Spa Saturday)

Today I was looking for an easy way to spice up a plain jane manicure.  I came up with a tiny pop of gold color to cheer up an otherwise ordinary manicure.

Easy as that :)

Here are the colors used:
Essie - Sew Psyched
OPI (Limited Edition) - Gift of Gold

Fashion Friday - Outfit Of The Day

Here comes summer...
So here I am!  I guess I'm still curly but just a bit shorter.  I can't keep myself from doing the occasional hair flip.  It feels so light and airy.  Despite all of my nervousness and insecurities, I think I'm in love and the short hair might be here to stay. :)

Today I was just feeling so summery I had to go with a flow-y long skirt to run errands in with my mom (visiting from out of town).

On top:  I layered 2 different American Eagle brand shirts (previous seasons).  The first one is a grey tank with white mesh.  Tank #2 is a loose fitting slouchy blue tank that I knotted for a bohemian feel.

On bottom:  I had to go with a vintage floral maxi skirt.  I'm sure you've seen this one on me before :)
Shoes:  Another American Eagle find from a previous season.  These braided flip flops are well loved <3
Purse:  My usual vegan leather bag from LULUS.com  You can see the purse up closer in this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PYTdiJS2K9Q) video.

Accessories:  Pair this outfit with a long golden watch necklace, a toe ring, and some friendship bracelets and I'm good to go!

Sorry for my infrequent posts.  All this glorious sunshine must be messing with my head.  I promise to be a better blogger starting... NOW.

Until next time,

Hey Guys!

Sorry It's taken me so long to post.  Day to day life has been keeping me pretty busy lately, but I was excited to post this particular topic, because body acne is something that has plagued me for the majority of my life.  I finally found the magic combination for my skin that has been working wonders to keep my back and chest areas clear.  Please watch my video to see how I did it. :)  Hopefully I'll have a facial acne post coming soon!

Zooey Deschanel/ New Girl Makeup Tutorial

Hey Guys!
So I know that I've already done one Zooey Deschanel tutorial, but she's just so fabulous that I couldn't resist doing another.  I realize that I look absolutely nothing like her, so please bear with me and if nothing else, hopefully you enjoy this tutorial just as a fun, flirty, girl next door look.

I couldn't post the picture that I was basing this look off of on youtube, so as promised, here is the episode (1x10 "Injured") photograph:

My interpretation:

Anyway, I had so much fun filming this tutorial so I hope you enjoy it!  :)  Any comments, questions, suggestions, requests?  I always love to hear them!

Reasons to Enjoy a Sunny Day...

One of those perfect lazy days…

As I write this blog I am basking in this glorious sunlit day.  It’s a rarity mid winter to have one of these perfectly sunny days. 63 degrees, slight breeze, and not a cloud in sight.  I’ve got my bikini on and I’m ready to store up on sunlight while I still can.  It’s these kinds of days that will tide me over until summer.

My enjoyment of this sunny day prompted me to write this blog about the benefits of sunlight.  Mostly we hear and like to repeat to others the dangers of too much sunlight.  Cancer and saggy skin galore!  Fortunately for us summer-lovers there are some benefits as well.  It still holds true that we should limit our time in the sun and wear an SPF protecting against UVB/UVA rays on a daily basis, however; health professionals are now suggesting that we all need approximately 5 minutes a day of unprotected sun exposure (varying depending on location and skin type) in order to produce the proper amount of Vitamin D.

Being an advocate of the sun, here’s my list of reasons why we should indulge J

1.     Vitamin D helps to reduce the risk of many ailments and diseases including that of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer (As is said, small doses do the trick), prevent muscle pain, the flu, and prevent many bone diseases.
2.     Build resistance to eczema, acne, psoriasis, and other skin irritations
3.     Improve your digestion
4.     Promote activity – The average person is far more inspired to be active in an outdoor setting than inside their house, or even at the gym.
5.     Happiness – I can speak from first hand experience as to the sun’s mood-boosting capabilities.

Inspired to have a day in the sun?  Be safe and have fun!  The sunrays are strongest within the hours of 11am until 2pm, so lather up on that sunscreen!

Time to enjoy this day…

Until Next Time,

Evy <3

Blender Bottle Review

Hey Guys!

I was browsing through my old posts when I realized how infrequently I’ve been fulfilling the health segment of my blog.  I usually stick to fashion and beauty youtube videos, which is why health (which is just as important) falls on the backburner.  Although, my health posts are pretty scarce, it’s a major part of my day-to-day life.  I figure today is the day to break my hiatus by talking to you about one of my newest obsessions.

About the bottle:

You might say that it’s just a bottle, but oh… it is so much more!  The Blender Bottle is a relatively new phenomenon to catch on.  I’ve seen these sold in many health and supplement stores along with my local 24Hr Fitness club.  The bottle itself is really nice for on-the-go use because of its sturdy closure, and is ideal for keeping track of intake due to the handy measurement along the side.  So far I’ve described a really nice water bottle, but what makes this bottle really special is the golf-ball shaped whisk that comes tucked away inside.  The whisk is great for blending ingredients inside of the bottle efficiently and mess free.

Uses:

My reason for purchasing this bottle was to blend my own protein shakes when I’m on the go.  Anyone who’s tried to blend their own protein drinks knows that most protein powders are not the most delicious, the worst being when mid-chug you gulp a glob of dried powder (Yuck).  Since using the Blender Bottle I have been clump free! J  In my excitement about my new find I decided to visit the Blender Bottle website (www.blenderbottle.com) to learn more about my purchase.  Along with showing me more of their products, the site was helpful in showing me how else to use my bottle.  Some of the uses were a bit self-explanatory (Use it as a water bottle?  Who woud have thought!), but then there were a million and one other great ways to use the bottle in day-to-day cooking (scrambling eggs, making salad dressing, etc).  If you decide to purchase a bottle, I would suggest visiting the website as it can teach you great (healthy) recipes to get you started. My favorite recipe is a healthier indulgence and tastes great!  Go check out the Cinnamon Roll Protein Shake.  You won’t be sorry ;)

DIY Manicure - Ombre

Hey guys!

So this was my lazy sunday night.  I'm not going to lie, it did take awhile to complete, but I just had to try it and I'm pretty proud of the end result!  :)  Although these nails were pretty time consuming, they are still relatively easy to complete.  I'm no nail expert, but here's how I achieved this look:

1.  Start with 3-4 different shades in the same color ranging from light to dark and one triangular edged makeup sponge

2.  Coat your nails completely with the lightest color and wait for them to dry

3.  Apply a small amount of the second lightest color to the makeup sponge (It's better to start with a small amount and apply more).  Stipple the color over the nail leaving an exposed section near the cuticle, so the previous color will still shine through.

4.  Repeat with every other color.

5.  (Optional)  I then applied a sparkly clear coat of nail polish over the upper half

6.  Apply top coat for a smoother finish and longer lasting manicure!

The colors that I used were:
OPI - Breathe Life
OPI - Teal the Cows Come Home
OPI - Dating a Royal
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear - Blue It
Wet n' Wild Wild Shine Nail Color - 469
OPI - Top Coat

Hope this is helpful!

Until Next Time,

Curly Hair Care Routine/ Tutorial (Day 1)

Hey guys!

I thought that it would be fitting, since my name is evy"curlygirly" to film an every day curly hair tutorial on how i manage to keep my curls frizz-free and styled.  It has taken me a long time to perfect the styling of my hair, because there seems to be a limited number of internet info for us curly girls.  This video is hopefully my contribution to the curly cause!  :)  I hope that you find this helpful.  Days 2 and 3 coming soon!

Beauty and fashion inspirations can come from anywhere, a quote, a person, a photograph, a song, but today I wanted to talk to you about beauty bibles.  By beauty bibles I mean fashion and beauty books and magazines that I refer to religiously for my style inspirations.  Here are just a few of my go-to beauty bibles.

Enjoy!

Hey Everyone,

Sorry, about how looong it has taken me to finally get going with the videos again.  Going home for break sort of threw a wrench in the time I had to make them, but I swear I'm back!

These are swatches from the Nude 'Tude palette by theBalm that I used in this tutorial.  The colors from left to right are Snobby, Stubborn, Sultry, and Sleek.

X-Out Wash-in Treatment Review (Acne Product)

Hey Guys!

I just wanted to take this time to tell you about this new acne product developed by ProActiv.  First off, I feel like I should tell you that this product was graciously sent to me by the AMAZING Influenster.com, who allowed me to review their Holiday VoxBox (Register for free!).  Now, I have been living a constant acne battle since around the age of 12.  I have used just about EVERY non-prescription acne treatment out there, seen a dermatologist, and tried several different prescription products to no avail... until now.  Now, I'm not going to lie and tell you that this is a MIRACLE product that completely cured my acne, but it did significantly clear my skin after only a few uses.

This product comes in a pump container and can be used in three different ways: as a face wash, spot treatment, or face mask.  The active ingredient in this product is benzoyl peroxide, which I have tried several times, without achieving the same affect as with this product.  The first night of use, I used the product as a face wash and went to bed directly after use.  In the morning when I woke up, I noticed that my skin was not nearly as blotchy and that the size of many zits were reduced.  Now, it's hard to tell if it was this product that worked so incredibly fast or if it was just time for my skin to clear, but after a few more days of use (twice a day) it became clear that this product was a keeper.  I eventually added the Clean & Clear  Advantage Mark Treatment with salicylic medication in conjunction with the X-Out treatment, and my skin has continued to be much happier with me :)  This product is definitely worth a try.  I plan to repurchase this treatment in the future!  Let me know how this product worked for you.

Until Next Time!
Evy <3

***Although it was not purchased by myself, I can guarantee that this review is completely reflective of my own opinion on the product ***
